01-Feb-2010 - Paul Rix (Shepperton Infrastructure Team)
Paul had seen first-hand the unpredictable consequences of over-burdened or inexperienced Hyperion administrators that are asked to manage
complex EPM systems.
He also recognised the difficulty in allocating rack space and even disk space to accommodate the growing data storage and backup requirements of
the latest EPM environments.
Paul's Idea
To create a hosted EPM solution (now named EPM+) that allows clients to access their EPM/BI applications via the Web without the cost of hiring dedicated administrators or the need to invest in rack space. A managed solution has the added benefit of faster deployments, standardised backups and speedier application development.
Paul went on to identify and agree a deal with a well respected secure hosting partner in the UK and set up Shepperton's own EPM system there to prove the concept. Great job Paul!
