Bill Cannon Invites London Businesses To Join The 1% Club
1% CHARITY INITIATIVE LAUNCHING AT EXCLUSIVE ABBEY ROAD CONCERT

Shepperton CEO Bill Cannon is calling on London’s business community to think small when it comes to giving to charity. He says the rewards could be enormous if companies across the Capital would donate just one per cent of their profits to charity each year.

Shepperton.com is sponsoring this year’s much heralded Cancer Research UK charity concert at Abbey Road Studios featuring Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant alongside David Gray, Newton Faulkner and Beth Nielsen Chapman.

He is using the event to launch his 1% Club initiative.

Bill says that more than 750,000 SMEs are based in London and if just ten per cent of these donated one per cent of their annual profits to a charity of their choice up to £360million could be raised every year.*

“These are conservative estimates,” says Cannon. “The potential is far greater. Extend the idea to a larger number of businesses and to other towns and cities across the country and I believe we have a movement for change.”

Bill says he wants London to lead the way. His father died from cancer in 1996, but he believes that beyond his own personal experience the scheme makes sound business sense.

“If you are dealing with people that are prepared to give some of their profit away to a good cause, I believe it means you are dealing with people who think about others, which is key to the success and happiness of a business,” says Cannon. “I have always lived by this principal and it has in no way hindered my ability to run a successful company.”
